Hello Members and Friends,

Napa Valley State Parks Association is the friends group that operates the Bale Grist Mill and also helps support our sister parks Bothe-Napa Valley and Robert Louis Stevenson.  With the important addition of membership dollars our “small but mighty” crew of staff and volunteers helps keep the three Napa Valley State Parks open and well maintained for everyone to enjoy.

Bale Grist Mill – The mill is open for milling demonstrations and tours of the historic buildings every weekend year-round, and is also open for school tours Wednesdays and Thursdays.  NVSPA also hosts several wonderful annual events: a membership Pancake Breakfast in May, a glorious outdoor Harvest Dinner in the fall  and two living history events – Old Mill Days in October and Pioneer Christmas.

Bothe-Napa Valley – NVSPA sponsors several summer outdoor education programs: Nature Camp and Teen Camp, Junior Rangers for our young campers, and naturalist-led hikes summer Saturdays – free for everyone. NVSPA is also responsible for the Historic Pioneer Cemetery, the Historic Orchard, the Visitor Center and Native Plant Garden, Wappo People.

Robert Louis Stevenson – NVSPA volunteers regularly hike the trails to assess areas that need maintenance. With donation dollars and matching grant money we are currently repairing erosion damage and replacing missing signs along many sections of the trails.  Vandalism ceased following extensive repairs to the old cabin that is now habitable again and staffed.

NVSPA also raises funds for a wide assortment of maintenance and improvement projects, many of which are made possible by the hardworking members of local civic and volunteer groups!

Most of these special programs and projects would not be possible without membership dollars and support. Please join or renew today.
