Current Volunteer Opportunities
Docent, Visitor Center at
Bothe-Napa Valley State Park
As a docent at the Visitor Center, you'll have the opportunity to assist staff with operating hours, engage in gardening work in the Native American Plant Garden, support special events at the park, and participate in or lead garden walks. This role is perfect for those who enjoy interacting with visitors and sharing their knowledge about the park's natural and cultural history.
Docent, Bale Grist Mill:
As a docent at Bale Grist Mill, you'll help with operating hours at the mill, perform landscaping and grounds maintenance, and support special events such as Old Mill Days and Old Mill Holidays. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about history and enjoy maintaining the beauty and functionality of historic sites.
Trails VolunteeR
As a trails volunteer, you'll assist with scouting and maintaining trails by clearing vegetation, inspecting signage, and improving trail conditions. You'll also participate in regular trail volunteer projects and help staff with visitor orientation. This role is suited for those who love the outdoors and want to contribute to the upkeep and enhancement of the park's trail system.
Camp Host at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park or Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park
As a camp host, you'll commit to a three-month stay at either Bothe-Napa Valley State Park or Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park. This position includes an RV/trailer site with hookups and involves assisting park staff, helping visitors, and ensuring the campgrounds are well-maintained. It's a great opportunity for those who enjoy a longer-term volunteer experience in a beautiful natural setting.

Join us on April 27th from 10 am to 12 pm (with refreshments and an open house until 2 pm) at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park to kickstart your volunteering journey and make a meaningful impact in your community and environment!

We understand that schedules can be busy, so we’re happy to provide one-on-one training or set up another orientation for a date that works for those interested.
