North and South Trails
The parking lot along Highway 29 between Calistoga and Middletown serves as the starting point for several trails. Visitors can hike and bike through evergreen forests in the canyons on north-facing slopes, and chaparral on the south-facing slopes. Trails heading north will ascend to the summit of Mount St. Helena, while those heading south will take hikers to Table Rock, the Palisades' volcanic cliffs, and a route to the Oat Hill Mine Trail, which leads to the outskirts of Calistoga.
